On October 28, 2010, the Mt. Juliet church was saddened to hear of the passing of our dear brother in Christ, Jimmy Hatcher. His health had not been good for the past several years, but he continued to attend the worship services and was truly an inspiration to us. Jimmy was a member of the Prime Timers Bible Class. He loved that class and sat on the front row every Sunday. It was not too many weeks ago that Jimmy responded to the invitation, asking for the prayers of the church. He wanted to make sure that he was ready to meet God in the judgment and that his soul was free from all sins.
Jimmy had an apartment in the home of his sister, Bobbi Slusher, where he enjoyed his privacy, but had help close-by in case he needed it. Throughout his life, Jimmy was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed working games at Vanderbilt and the Nashville Sounds. Rumor has it that he actually liked working those games to keep from buying a season ticket; he would be smiling if he knew we were writing this about him. Jimmy looked forward to the meals that came to him from the Meals on Wheels of the Hermitage church of Christ. He had established a system that enabled his meal to be left at his apartment, in case he happened to be away when it was delivered.
Recently, Jimmy had undergone several surgical procedures; each one posed a real threat to his overall medical condition. He has now gone to be with the Lord. We shall miss him, but we know he is now in the hands of a mighty God and is in a much better place.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bobbi Slusher and other family members.
