As you probably know, this week I am directing a Future Minister´s Camp in Honduras. We have 23 young men, ages 13 to 23, which are spending the week learning how to prepare sermons and many other aspects of being a leader in the Lord´s church.
It is going unbelievably well! Praise God! Thank you for all your prayers! The young men are loving it and are learning more every day!
There is one boy named Felipe. He is 16, but looks 12. He is not healthy. His parents have been taking him to doctors to discover what is wrong with him. The other day, he was playing soccer with some of the boys and collapsed on the court, having a seizure. They called out to his big brother, who ran to his side. He picked him up, and carried him to his cabin to lay down.
His brother Hector said he has these seizures from time to time when he is not getting enough rest or is running around a lot. Felipe has been ok since and he loves the camp! But I want to tell you another story about him. We had one camper get sick a few nights ago, and he decided to go home. But Felipe chose to stay.
This week a man named Luis has been helping in the kitchen, preparing all the meals for the campers. Luis´ wife Jacky is also helping in the kitchen. Yesterday, Felipe was visiting with them in the kitchen. Jacky challenged Felipe. She said, “You want to be a preacher right?” Felipe confirmed that he did want to be a preacher. Jacky said to Felipe, “Well, preach to him”, referring to her husband Luis, who had not yet obeyed the gospel. So Felipe did. He studied the Bible with Luis. Luis was baptized into Christ! Praise God! We all rejoiced yesterday, as a new brother was added to the body of Christ! When I congratulated Luis, he gave the credit to Felipe, a 16 year old boy, who looks 12, with health concerns. Luis pointed to Felipe and said, “He is going to be a great preacher!”
I can learn a lot from a young man named Felipe, who at 16 years old, was prepared when given the opportunity to share the gospel with a precious soul who was eager to hear more about Jesus!
May we all be ready when someone asks us to preach to them the gospel of Christ!
30 Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, 31 preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.
