Stateside Mission - Crossing the Street

The greatest thing that we as a congregation of God's people in Mt. Juliet can give to our community is the message of the Gospel. Jesus calls us to be a "city set on a hill" and refers to us as the "salt of the world", but what exactly does that mean and how do we even do that in today's world?
Each year our congregation goes to a community and spends a week knocking on doors and encouraging people to pursue a relationship with God. We travel several hours in buses and vans, eat meals that our hosts provide, sleep in beds that make us dearly miss our own, and after a few brief days bid farewell to the community and the precious seeds that we worked so hard to plant.
Those who attend these week long campaigns grow in their love for each other and in their desire to spread Christ's eternity-altering message. Unfailingly, someone will always ask the question, "Why can't we do this at home?" Because of that, and because of the great responsibility we have to be salt and light in our community, we are excited to present our 2009 Stateside Mission Trip--"Crossing the Street".
This unique week in the summer of 2009 will give us the chance to reach with the Gospel of Christ those who live right around us. We'll offer invitations to a Gospel Meeting and opportunities to study the Bible, but we'll also reach out to our neighbors with acts of service that show God's love in practical ways.
We have a large task before us, but with that task comes the possibility of forever changing the Mt. Juliet community. Will you join us in the planning? If you need more information, don't hesitate to ask. With God we can!
