It is the morning after the combined service Sunday night. It was like being in El Salvador. Ryan Hudson did a splendid job of interpreting. Elias showed the compassion of our Central American brothers. Trey did an excellent job directing everything. Everyone saw in a small time capsule what it means to do mission work and the result of a heart that has been convicted by that work.
Mark 16:15 “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.” In Ezekiel 33 we have the concept that we are all watchmen. Our job is to warn those without Christ that judgment is coming. If we do our job we save the ones who listen as well as ourselves. The second greatest command; Mark 12:31 “The second is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these to love our neighbors as ourselves.” Everything points to mission work which is taking the good news of Christ. We don’t love the things in the world but we love God. Our compassion goes out to the world that is lost and their needs that are ever present, food, water, medical care and the word of God. That is mission work. Mt Juliet has many places to be a missionary, Stateside, Central America, Brazil, Greece, Ukraine, and Africa. And you can make the trip anywhere we send workers. There are many places we cannot go but we can help those who are going or are already there.
Ro 10:15 “and how shall they preach, except they be sent? even as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things!”
As a congregation you have sent money to many places, some you may not even know about, such as: Mexico, Paraguay, India, and Haiti. Your contributions to the church go to send those who preach.
From the budget presentation last month you know that we spent over $200,000 on mission work. The mission committee, under the oversight of the elders, plans how we are to be involved. We receive many requests for funds that we cannot answer. But there are so many good works going on in the world. We invite you to come and be a part of the committee. We invite you to help those we are sending. We invite you to become involved in the lives of our missionaries. We invite you to send or be sent, to see the love of God in action.
Ro 1:8 “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.”
